| Naturopath Jess Murray |
Jess Murray - Naturopath.Jess Murray is a qualified naturopath and member of the National Herbalists Association of Australia. I completed my degree at the Southern School of Natural Therapies, wrote a thesis on IBS and achieved a high distinction average. I love learning, reading and soaking up the wealth of information that is out there. I regularly attend seminars, and keep up with the latest research and products available. My passion is natural medicine and health. I first started reading about nutrition when I turned vegetarian at 11 years old. Being the only vegetarian in the family I learnt to cook for myself, being very mindful to ensure I got enough nutrients. Vegetarianism wasn’t very big back in the 80s, and people warned me that as a vegetarian my hair would fall out and I’d get cancer! After completing VCE I worked in the family business and traveled extensively before finding a piece of my heart in Daylesford. There I lived for 2 years – met some amazing people, worked in vegetarian and vegan cafés, and set up a juice van. In the JahJuice van I traveled to markets and festivals selling fresh juice, frozen fruit desserts and healthy snacks. I then returned to Melbourne to undertake the Bachelor of Health Science at the Southern School. During my degree I worked part time in a health food store and on reception in a complementary health clinic. After completing my studies I worked as a retail naturopath and saw clients from home. I thoroughly enjoy putting the knowledge I have gained to good use, helping people to overcome health complaints, and achieve the state of wellness that is our birthright. I am now proud to be seeing clients from my own clinic, and offering the additional service of colon hydrotherapy. The foundation of my approach is the optimisation of digestive health; if we can assimilate our foods and eliminate our wastes effectively, health and vitality are assured. This approach is the cornerstone of many traditional and age-old cultural practices that are currently undergoing a revival. My clinic also incorporates a retail space which makes naturopathy more accessible to people. You are welcome to come in and have a chat, get some advice on the products and buy some goodies that are supportive of health. Sometimes people are daunted by seeing a naturopath, so this avenue offers the opportunity to “try before you buy”; that is, meet me, get an idea of the type of advice and recommendations I may make, and the types of lifestyle changes and products that may assist you in achieving health. |
